PRETTY DEAD GIRL SCREENS AT IFP/LA'S CINEMA LOUNGE IN SANTA MONICA

June 26, 2004 - Today IFP/LA screens the Los Angeles premiere of "Pretty Dead Girl" at their Cinema Lounge in Santa Monica.

Filmmakers Shawn Ku (writer/director), Summer Lopez and Carla Blair (producers) and Chad Galster (editor) will all be in attendance and available for Q & A.

"We're honored to be included in this event, which celebrates emerging and edgy talent. IFP is a vital non-profit resource for filmmakers in the Los Angeles area," said Lopez.

Pretty Dead Girl is a musical "necromance," a twisted retelling of Romeo & Juliet, in which a necrophiliac finally learns to love a woman who is alive. PRETTY DEAD GIRL WRITER/DIRECTOR SIGNED TO HELM WARNERS MUSICAL PICTURE

May 10, 2004 - Today Daily Variety reported that Shawn Ku, writer/director of the musical comedy hit Pretty Dead Girl, has been signed to a studio deal with Warner Bro's. to direct Dramarama, a teen musical comedy starring Lindsay Lohan. The project is slated for production in the new year.

Ku is represented by Creative Artists Agency and management firm Foursight Entertainment as a result of the success of Pretty Dead Girl at film festivals such as Sundance, Tribeca, and AFI. Producer Carla Blair: "Shawn is the undisputed master at taking the musical genre to a new level, blending romance and black comedy into a rare treat for any audience."

PRETTY DEAD GIRL WINS SPECIAL JURY AWARD AT 2004 FLORIDA FILM FESTIVAL

March 14, 2004 - Today the Jury of the 2004 Florida Film Festival awarded Pretty Dead Girl special recognition for Inspired Musical Filmmaking. "For the film's cast and crew, this award is a very special moment that recognizes their extraordinary passion and commitment to creative excellence," said producer Carla Blair. "We didn't set out to ride the popular wave of musical filmmaking, we set out to transform the genre while honoring its roots."

Producer Summer Lopez concurred: "We're thrilled to rejuvenate the musical form and infuse it with contemporary themes, music, and dance. (Writer/director) Shawn Ku realized this goal completely."

PRETTY DEAD GIRL PREMIERES AT SUNDANCE

DECEMBER 22, 2003 - The musical comedy Pretty Dead Girl, written and directed by Shawn Ku, will premiere at the 2004 Sundance Film Festival on opening night in Salt Lake City. Christian Campbell (Trick) stars in the film, which was championed by Chicago's Neil Meron and MGM's Chris McGurk.

Shawn Ku is an award-winning filmmaker and actor. In 2003, Ku was a finalist in Coca-Cola's Refreshing Filmmaker Contest and received AFI's Best Actor award. Previously he choreographed and appeared in "Miss Saigon" and "The King and I."
